George Bixby :- Pet Portraits
George Bixby graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1978 with a degree in Advertising Design. He was then hired by Ted Bates, Inc., one of the top ten advertising agencies at that time. While there, he performed many jobs which included: mechanical artist, studio photographer, the construction of photo props and illustrator. Even though he loved illustrating, he found that doing this for a number of agencies was too confining and restricted his artistic abilities. As years went by he worked for a number of leading agencies and moved up to Studio Manager. He was at his last job for more than 10 years, running the Art Studio with a crew of more than 35 people. George got back into illustrating by surprising his fiance, Dee, with a charcoal drawing of her dog, Dukie. She loved it so much that she inspired him to do it for other people. After drawing a few samples and going to dog shows in the area, his pet portrait business began to be popular. His ability to capture the finest details and each pets personality has kept George very busy. George now divides his time by freelancing in the field of advertising, drawing pet portraits, and spending time with Dee and his two Bichon Frise puppies, Frasier and Niles.
